What a cleaning schedule is

A documented cleaning schedule specifies which tasks are performed, how often, and by whom — daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly — calibrated to realistic patient volume and the hygiene needs of each space type in your facility.

Why consistency matters more than intensity

Many practices try to compensate for inconsistent daily cleaning with occasional deep cleans. But regular, moderate disinfection is far more effective at controlling surface bacterial load than infrequent intensive cleaning — the clinical equivalent of daily brushing beating a monthly deep scrub.

Building your schedule by frequency

Daily tasks: exam table and equipment surface disinfection between patients or at end of day, restroom sanitization, waiting room high-touch surface wipe-down, trash removal.

Weekly tasks: full floor cleaning of all clinical and public spaces, dusting of shelves and reception surfaces, interior glass and partition cleaning.

Monthly and quarterly tasks: deep restroom scrub, floor stripping or waxing where applicable, vent and duct dusting, carpet extraction in any carpeted admin areas.
